Stormwatch: New 52, from DC Comics

I have really enjoyed the first three issues of current re-launch of Stormwatch in the DC Universe and have been itching to try scribbling some of the characters.  Well, this is about as far as I got:

Honestly, I need to stick to my daily work and quit trying to be half as amazing as Cully Hamner.  Make sure to keep up with updates from http://stormwatch.ws/ and join the fans on Facebook.

Thank You,

Brett

Astrology/Zodiac Sign Leo: Tribal Men's T-shirt

T-Shirts Available at DemonPack.com

My goal for the Zodiac Leo was to present a wild independent lion spirit.  I had a lot of fun refining the shapes to form his fiery mane.  I also remember tweaking his face until he had a direct and confident expression. Leo is sharply watching you.

Art Files: Wild Tribal Creatures

These are from 2002 and earlier, but I'm really trying to take streamlined versions of these designs into my current animation projects.  I think they are going to update just fine :)

Art Files: Tribal Wolf

This is probably the origin of the Demon Pack style and approach to apparel.  This was the first time I really took a tribal approach to an animal and then really sat in Illustrator and created a vector for the sketch.  The current version is available printed on white tank top here: http://www.demonpack.com/tribalwolfwhitetanktop.shtml

Art Files: Apollo Astronaut

I entered a space art contest in 1999 (I think) and created a stack of sketches to collage in Photoshop.  I found the stack today and felt this image was worth sharing.

Illustration Friday: influence

A couple strong influences have crossed my art table recently...

I was trying to warm-up one day and drew some influence from tofusquirrel with this lil kitty :)

Also, I currently have the Caged Warrior in production and I really felt the Keith Haring influence emerge out after I vectorized the original drawing.  Very pleased with the high contrast in the final image.

Robyn - "Call Your Girlfriend" (Kaskade Club Mix) Demon Pack Animated Video

I was an instant fan when Kaskade took Robyn's song for "Call Your Girlfriend" and transformed it into a big energetic colorful dance floor sound.  I took pieces of Max Vitali's directed video to keep the lyrics + Robyn at the heart ... my addition ... the custom animation for Kaskade's beats for a heightened club feel.  I had to satisfy the images flashing in my head whenever I'd listen to his mix.

Thank You For Watching,

DJ Marketing and Branding

Gerard Mattera's Logo

Demon Pack just finished creating some branding for New York DJ Gerard Mattera and its time to spread the good monkey beats.   The project started in my sketchbook and I began drawing from his energy and presence. Taking the time to sketch really brought on the idea of giving his first name the monkey tale effect. The "M" was originally going to be very 3D to match Gerard's live dimensional mixing of tracks, but it over powered the monkey. The extra line on the name was the best solution and still mimics how Gerard can match multiple beats on the fly.

Refinement came from looking at existing DJ logos and seeing how Roger Sanchez branded himself across his social channels online.  We loved the way the "S" of his last name detached from the full name logo to create a portable square logo that he often drops into smaller spaces.  It also doesn't hurt that we both think Roger Sanchez is a true leader in the music industry.  So we followed his lead by creating the "M" piece to be used in similar fashion.

It does not stop here.  The new branding appears on all new media and his audience already identifies the current image.  We can also shift gears and Demon Pack Animation can step in and apply these materials to viral animation and live show branding in the future.

Please enjoy some animation using a mix from Gerard Mattera:

Acceptance: Shadow at the Edge of Day and Night By Andrew Souza

I was approached by the author Andrew Souza if I could illustrate some of the interior image for his book.  Here is the overview for his new book Acceptance:

While serving, Andrew witnessed many interesting places and things, some of which had to be written down. This particular mystery-thriller takes place in Brommer County, Missouri. Where two lawless riders were responsible for all the mayhem and carnage dealt to the nearby communities; their foul actions were done solely out of spite and greed, but unbeknownst to them, their deeds would eventually catch up with them.
Many years later, four young adults headed to a concert they believed would be the best one yet. On their way to the show, they noticed some things weren’t quite right. The young group initially thought they were lost, but soon found that was not the case at all. Not much later, it was revealed to them the reason behind their misfortune. While signs to turn back were being boldly displayed, their egos were too big to notice.

Now for a glimpse of my contributions to the book:

The book is now available in Hardcover and Softcover from AuthorHouse here.
