Scott Fisk Studio 669

Now we have an image! This character will greet you as you enter Scott Fisk's Studio 669 website (if you drop into his store it is titled the Screamer). Once inside, do check out the video and you'll meet a very cool artist and get a better idea of where he's coming from. As far as his art goes, I really like his use curves and skilled line work. It makes me realize drawing cars doesn't have to be deep mechanical rigid lines, you can pull off a very organic feel...which the artist has done here with a lot of success.

All The Best to Studio 669 and don't forget to check out his t-shirts and printz!

Quick Note, Cool Links!

I visited the Bat-Blog and found a cool artist Drag Daddy. So I visited his myspace page and found tons of great art and prints. Oh, but it doesn't stop there...check out some of his friends!

My Top Albums for 2009

Albums of 2009

1. Mesh A Perfect Solution

Genre: Synth Pop

The production is top notch, the songs are well written, the flow of each song is flawless. The only complaint would be the gloomy lyrics, but theres been so much feel good music this year that it can be easily balanced out.

2. Pure Reason Revolution Amor Vincit Omnia

Genre: Rock w/ Keyboards

Its very light on the rock so the pop lover could pick this up and start humming along. The songs are very well written and the band gels so well here. It was gunning for my top spot for awhile this year.

3. The Cut Up Boys The Mash Up Mix 2009

Genre: Dance

The combined listens of these 20+ mash-ups easily total to the most listened to this year. A mix of tracks from this year and old school I really believe it deserves high marks and truly makes a great gift! If I have a party, the Cut Up Boys are my music of choice.

4. Von Bondies Love Hate And Then There’s You

Genre: Rock

And this is a more direct form of rock aimed at an alternative music crowd. This album wins lots of points for its full collection of strongly written songs. If your into the first two songs its very likely the rest of the album will satisfy.

5. DevilDriver Pray for Villains

Genre: Metal

I've read so/so reviews of this one and I highly disagree. This album is awesome in a lot of ways. I have prior albums and they managed to re-tread ground on only two songs...or the songs that you think...oh this is DevilDriver. Otherwise the musicianship is wild and creative. Dez, the lead singer, has some lyrical misses here and there and its the only reason why this album didn't crack my top 3.

6. Deadmau5 For Lack of A Better Name

Genre: Dance/Electronic

Excellent mix of songs in pure Deadmau5 form. If your new to the world of Deadmau5, give it a listen and see what its all about. If your familiar, its a new bag of digital candy for your ears.

7. The Prodigy Invaders Must Die

Genre: Dance/Drum n Bass

Their back in great form with a nice mix of dance floor and punk. Classic style and energy. Its an uneven album to me, I skip tracks and love others. Theres a ton of love for some tracks pushing this album into my favorites.

8. Antoine Clamaran Spotlight

Genre: Dance

There is little edge here, but there is so much gloss you have to respect the epic dance production of this album. Its so shiny it plays like a freshly Windex cleaned mirror. Its a feel good album and not even a guilty pleasure because the quality is so high.

9. Rammstein Lieve Ist Fur Alle Da

Genre: Hard Rock

This is a fan entry. I nearly have every Rammstein album and as a fan I would easily point to this one as one of their best. The blue ribbon goes to their song structures. Nothing feels forced, which some of the more recent albums have suffered from. This one flows and strikes just right.

10. Infected Mushroom Legend of the Black Shawarma

Genre: Electronic

Great album, hands down. The long tracks on here are brilliant. Simple twists and turns all around. Their sitting here only because they didn't beat themselves.

Check em' out, maybe they fit for a gift. If you know someone into popular Dance you can't go wrong with the Cut Up Boys otherwise, I'd give Mesh to any Depeche Mode fan and Pure Reason Revolution is an excellent release for the rock fan.

Illustration Friday: skinny

We're so near Halloween I thought doing a silly skinny monster would fit. I bent his limbs...almost like he is going backwards. I see him fitting behind walls and creeping through narrow places.

X-Men Fan Art: Jean as the Phoenix, Wolverine

I don't think this needs much explanation. Just love the X-men. Jean is based on what we saw from Marc Silvestri in Here Comes Tomorrow in New X-Men.

3 Songs, 3 Drawings

Just trying something new. Here are three new songs and 3 pen drawings to go with each. It’s a review and a reaction. Lets begin.

First up is “Saeed” by Infected Mushroom from their album Legend of the Black Shawarma. It starts up in their familiar beat build-up to thumping danceable beat. A little tribal, but what is special about this track is that it morphs into a great rock Faith No More inspired anthem towards the end. The lyrics hold a lot of inner anguish so here is the image I drew from that.

Next is a new track from Limacon called “Electro Meds.” There was a string of remixes available and I chose to purchase the Litex Remix from Beatport since it stripped the song down to its basics. Just the right amount of layering so I could really enjoy the beat. For the reaction, I started getting images of steampunk angels.

To round out a solid 3, I chose Mesh’s first single from their upcoming album, A Perfect Solution. The track “Only Better” has glossy production with a haunting melody. I really enjoy how the layers create an audio twist without losing its pop appeal. The lyrics had me picturing this poor guy that could not explain himself to match the truth inside.

DSG 1507: Creature • ALIEN PREDATOR SHARES SIMILARITIES W/ EARTH'S BLACK PANTHER

So then I took it to the alien extreme.

Illustration Friday: Strong

Thought this was a good opportunity to grab some reference and find a strong bodybuilding pose to work from. I found some great photos at Armin Scholz's website and worked from those. Best to Armin and his bodybuilding goals. Then I added some elements for fun and gave him a nice sleeve of tattoos. Speaking of tattoos, just a quick shout to Rockabilly Tattoo, they came up in conversation with a friend the other day and were super cool at the Miami Tattoo Convention. Maybe I will get to pay them a visit one of these days. Thanks for checking out my work, back the drawing board.

DSG 1505: Sci-Fantasy • PREGNANT CYBORG MOTHER HAS TRANSPARENT, MACHINE-LIKE, BELLY

The future of child birth?

Illustration Friday: Magnify

I took the topic and decided to create a superhero called Magnify. I thought he can magnify matter for a short period of time. Like here, he magnifies an ant to scare off an enemy. Also making his other ant friends a bit jealous.
